First Post of the Single Payer Company:
dated November 7th, 2019:

A Description:

Single Payer Company intends to be a nonprofit company serving millions of Americans to offer what the vast majority of Americans want and need: affordable, quality, universal medical, dental, vision and other health care. We/you intend to do this with, or without, help or approval from or by Congress or other elected officials, And since we are tired of waiting for them to lead, to create a national, government-sponsored health care system for all, we, all of us, will do it ourselves.  After all, it's OUR money and we will spend and invest it as we wish starting with putting an end to the profit-taking on the backs of sick and dying Americans. To the tune of over $11 billion a year for the nation's private health insurance companies. We have no problem with people wanting to make money; we object to anyone trying to marginalize anyone else by name-calling, such as the use of the word 'Socialist' (thought there's nothing wrong with this word in and of itself) since, again, it's OUR money and we will spend it as we choose: creating an affordable, quality, universal US health care system for all of US.

Who can "join"? Who can be a "member" of our nonpforit Single Payer Company?
Answer: anyone. Any real person. No corporations - sorry. No insurance companies. No Fortune 500 firms. No unions-though their members like anyone, are welcome to "join". No government entities.

Is there a membership fee to "join" Single Payer Company?
Answer: No. But we may ask you to donate from time to time.

Where will it get funds to help people obtain and pay for the health care they need.
Answer: From its members and from foundations including community and other foundations, other nonprofits, gifts from rich persons, trusts, and other entities, even states and our national government (though none of these can nor will be allowed to be "members" themselves - whatever is legally allowed.

Who will run Single Payer Company?
Answer: its members - all of us, through an elected Board of Directors following bylaws we create which will delineate how Single Payer Company will "work". This will take time and patience and some funds to get going but - not as long as it has taken for our elected members of Congress to continue saying NO to all of us! There will be professional staff hired - employees and contractors, including individual doctors and other providers as well as experts in law, finance, marketing, running a "company"/nonprofit and in communications and public relations and fundraising - to inform us all, through the staff of Single Payer Company, on how we can best proceed in order to deliver affordable, universal health care to all Americans.

Where will Single Payer Company located?
Answer: Right now, it's on the world wide web and as soon as the preliminary work is done - recruiting a board of directors, creating and passing initial bylaws, recruiting, educating volunteers, staff and members and the press/media, this new nonprofit "Company" will be located in every state with a national headquarters located at a place to be decided on by its board of directors and staff.

How will Single Payer Company be held accountable?
Answer:
Simply and first and importantly, by laws and regulations mandating how nonprofit firms are organized and how they operate...as well as, and more importantly, by its  members, staff and board of directors who will define its mission(s), goals and objectives and timetables for same together with regular reports made public and submitted as needed to any regulatory agencies. Since we are not and do not intend to be an "insurance company," we will not seek status as such and will challenge any attempts to designate Single Payer Company as such.

What are the immediate goals of Single Payer Company?
Answer:
-To immediately create an alternative to the deliberate and organized obstruction and dysfunction of those we elect and continue elect who oppose 'single payer', affordable, quality health care in America for all Americans.

-This means that Single Payer would not itself provide any care services nor hire anyone to do so as we do not wish to be a 'provider' of medical care nor employ anyone who is.  Nor do we wish to be an 'insurance company' of any kind. Also, we believe we do not need Congress nor state legislators, nor the President to succeed and while we intend to make our services 'universal' by helping people pay their medical and dental and other health care costs, we will do so in a way that is compassionate and which respects individual choices and without interfering with any doctor-patient relations whatsoever.

-With savings and other funds we intend to raise, we expect to deliver to ALL Americans, (who we hope will eventually all be "members" of the Single Payer Company,) the financing they need to obtain the care services ALL Americans need, want and deserve.
Also, a goal is to increase the compensation of most care providers - doctors, nurses and other providers, while also forcing and bargaining for reductions in excessive costs of prescription drugs and for tests and for some care services where it is known that costs are excessive.

-And the Single Payer Company (US!) will eliminate completely the entire NONsense of 'copays, deductibles, coinsurance, facility and other fees, Tiers 1, 2, or 3 etc in the purchasing of Rx's,' - and the annual nonsense of '3 card Monty' in the marketing of (DIS)advantage and other private health insurance plans which, really, fail to completely cover all health care costs and which often exclude or drastically reduce payments for dental, vision, feet, hearing and other needed health care, resulting in totally unnecessary and high costs to patients and their families to the point of financial insolvency and bankruptcy, or worse, deterring them from seeking further care services when needed.
What other industry on the planet has so many names for money - and so many ways of confusing consumers and patients in order to separate us from our money while failing to deliver really the best health care on the planet to all at reasonable cost?

Who are you?
Answer: I live in Connecticut, am (semi)-retired, have limited funds like most Americans and, like most Americans, am tired of a health care system which, while decent, can be made a LOT better for ALL of us. That's where Y O U  come in. That's the American way.  And the last time we Americans all agreed on ONE thing for all of us, it was Social Security - which somehow - very few of us reject to benefit from when we are eligible.

What next?
Stay tuned to this blog at  https://singlepayercompany.blogspot.com   and to a new, connected website - yet to be created and launched but to be known as
 www.singlepayercompany.org

If we all LEAD, the leaders will follow or worse, be ignored as we continue succeeding together in getting what we want for the $4 trillion+ we already spend of our OWN money on health care in America.
